This book has value even for newlyweds considering parenthood.The concepts are easy to apply, and easily overlooked in the business of modern life. My children responded immediately to the new ways I was able to express my love for them. My only regret is that I didn't read it ten years sooner. But it does apply to children of any age, it's never too late to really love our children.

This excellent book is a must-have for all parents. I'm already waiting for the sequel, "How to Really, Really Love Your Children".

The journey of Larry Gaiser from wide-eyed grunt to hard-nosed veteran is very convincing, and the combat scenes have an eloquence and ring of truth that leave a long-lasting impression.. You can hear it, smell it and feel it. Campbell takes you there and plants you in the Korean mud for the duration, and you leave, as he did, knowing what war really means-that the experience alone can take a young life just as surely a bullet.

"In the Shadow of Glory" serves a profound purpose for those of us who have not, nor will ever serve in combat. Through the eyes of a young, patriotic marine, one is taken to the extremes of both the heroism and horror that were the intrinsic bi-products of the Korean war. The reader hardens with him in an effort to survive. Written in an appropriate, straightforward style, this book is an enlightening yet emotionally challenging read. I highly recommend it.

So realistic it brought back memories that I had forgotten.

I laughed and cried as I read this book. I could see myself and my family in so many of the stories and pictures. Eras long gone but some very happy meomories.

This book brought back such a flood of memories of my own born-again upbringing. The great gift of this book is that it made me laugh hard and out loud, after all these years of hiding out from the memories. It captures just about every oddball, earnest angle to the whole experience, from what a teenager should do to pass the time in church (do make important sermon notes in the margin of your Bible, don't clean out your purse) to what you're supposed to say when someone asks you to dance ("I don't dance, I'm a Christian.") to why you felt so smug when you won a Sword Drill. The book doesn't make me want to relive it (once was enough!) or inflict it on my own child (though I did make him memorize the books of the Bible, just so he wouldn't be Biblically illiterate). But it does make me think, well, okay, it was weird but it was also funny (in retrospect) and I'm mighty grateful someone else who lived it got it down on paper before we all forgot what happened to us. I've ordered copies for all my brothers and sisters, who will also see themselves on every page. Great job.

This is a very sweet book that will make you laugh if you grew up with only a few of these memories. Not irreverent or blasphemous, it is a true but humorous look at how we grew up in religious families and communities. So many things that I had forgotten from my childhood were brought to mind again while reading this scrap book of growing up spiritual. It was surprising that the authors left out Davey and Goliath as proper TV fare though, maybe because it usually aired on Sunday morning before we left for Church. And it is funny to remember what we thought about those "other Churches". I thank the authors for putting this memory album together for us. So buy, enjoy, and share this book with others who will relate, before this gentle way of life is forgotten altogether in some parts of this country.

This is a great, clear cut, interesting and fun-to-read book! Stu Campbell is able to take what, to newcomers, can be a daunting task and not only present us with the basics to feel comfortable but he also translates some of the scientific "mumbo-jumbo" of how and why compost works into layman's terms. He includes real "recipes" and approaches to try as well as suppling a list (though not nearly complete) of good materials to compost as well as what NOT to use. A short "troubleshooting" chapter called "Things You Might Worry About a Little" is a bit over the top for beginners but is part of what makes this book valuable for the seasoned composter. Let It Rot! is a not-to-technical, well-written, easy-to-read guide that takes the "yuck" out of your composting ideas! Perfect for beginners and a great refresher for near professional composters.

There's more to composting than just sticking a bunch of dead things in a pile and waiting for it to rot - although that will work. It can be a virtual art form, and this book proves it. From building a compost container to adding the ingredients, this book leaves out nothing. Handy tips on speeding up the decomposition, encouraging worms, creating leaf-mold, using it once you've made it. You'll never look at an apple core quite the same way again. In this day and age with the emphasis placed heavily on recycling, this book provides heaps of how-to's in getting the most out of your waste.

This book has been available for so long that it really should be considered a classic. It's great for beginners and helpful to anyone interested in techniques for composting.

Without question this is a wonderful book that addresses many of our personal, human problems, including how to deal and cope with them. This book is not just about sleep but about living a meaningful life. If you want a quick fix or magic bullet for sleep difficulties, look elsewhere. But if you want to examine your heart, mind, and even your soul, then you will find, like I did by following the suggestions given in the book, that "Live Well, Sleep Well" is an excellent guide to a sense of peace and tranquility. It's not entirely about the number of hours we sleep, but the quality of our sleep.

I have loved Neve Campbell ever since PO5. She is definitely one of my favorite actresses of all time. This book was really interesting. It showed me a side of Neve I had never known. I hope she continues to make great films because she is talented, beautiful, and deserves recognition.

Omikron is a very fun game, but sometimes it gets pretty tricky. Some of the navigation through rooftop labyrinths just aren't something you're going to get right away, and there are other things like secret characters, or directions on how to obtain the goals. One thing is when you're trying to blow up a bridge, there's this big section you have to run through and switch buttons on to create a distraction while shooting and running to a specific door that will take you to rafts that will take you to the bridge. That's pretty crazy. The book tells you what to do. It has great graphics, easy to understand step-by-step directions, and helpful hints on what you could do to make it easier before you go into these parts of the game. It was very useful to me and I highly recommend it to anyone who has the game.

The game is similar to Resident Evil:CV, and if you are like me, they you probably have trouble solving puzzles. In the game, there are many objectives that are completed by being different people, and you may have trouble figuring out how to solve the puzzles and who you have to be to solve them. Although strategy guides defeat the purpose of these types of games, it is also no fun if you get stuck and cannot find your way around the game. I recommend this book if you get stuck easily. Prima's Strategy Guides are very thorough, and with this book you won't miss any secrets.

The story line uses historical tidbits to paint a relationship drama between the four lead characters as well as other people they meet on and off the jobs. Though not loaded with action, readers who delight in this character study concerning the recent American past. The audience will treasure Kristin Campbell Nail's homage to one of the most influential periods in the women's rights movement.

An outstanding read! I had a hard time putting the book down just to go to work.

Ms Nail weaves the lives of the four roommates together in such a way that reader can truly get the feel of the difficulties and patriotism of the WWII era.

I highly recommend this book.

Set in WW II Seattle, The Girls From Hangar B follows four eager, patriotic women who were selected at random to work in the factories while America's men went to war. A Scandinavian redhead; an African-American mother of four; a rich, academic young woman; and an ex-prostitute - each woman is radically different in looks and history, and each one knows nothing about building, yet each is about to begin labor on some of the most complicated machines of the era. A wonderful tale of the enduring bond between female friends, The Girls From Hangar B is a testament to the strength of the collective human spirit.

I'm not giving away anything by saying this book has a happy ending, but on the way there I thought it was going to break my heart! The scenes kept going back and forth from joy to pain, happiness to misery, love to anguish, and it was a wonderful roller-coaster of emotions. I loved this book and loved the people in it -- it was such a relief that they all wound up happy together at the end!

I posted this once already but it might have gotten lost -- anyway, this is a GREAT book! It reminded me of the Colorado town I grew up in, only there weren't any men like Mick there. If there had been, I would have stayed!I loved this story. It was one of the best I've read all year.

This is a great book! Mick is such an appealing amnesiac -- he's not overly worried, he's more enjoying the moment -- which makes him perfect for Annelise, who wants EVERYone to be happy and secure. Plus the little girl (Emily) is so true-to-life, not Fake-cute like a lot of kids in novels. I need to see if I've missed any other Laurie Campbell books -- this was one of the best romances (and a WONDERFUL love scene!) I've read in a long time.

As someone who has majored in religion, and a long time seeker, this book has been sooo incedibly wonderful. This book, as well as Volume 2, explains what you can and can not do, what you should and should not do. For example, when it is respectful leave a ceremony, what you should wear, is photography permitted. It even briefly explains the ceremony. I found a few errors, however. The Hindu customs for an infant are a little mixed up, but 98% of the book is fabulous!

In the America of the 21st century, all of us have friends, relatives, etc. who practice their faith in different manners. Most of us will have occasion to attend services in houses of worship other than our own. This book is a guide on proper behavior under these circumstances.

As a Christian clergyman, I have personally have had occasion to attend service in almost every major American Christian denomination, as well as Jewish temple services. Most members of the clergy that I know are in similar positions. All of us are passionate about our own faith -- but none of us want to be accidentally offensive to others.

Some might ask, "Why should I be concerned about how to behave at someone else's religious service? I never expect to go. They don't worship the way I do. They don't believe in the same God that I believe in, etc." For persons with these attitudes, here are some points to consider:

1) You may be surprised at the type of service you find yourself. A wedding. A funeral. A christening. A Bar-Mitzpah. The list goes on.

2) There are certain situations in which NOT attending can cause MORE offense.

3) Put yourself in the shoes of another. Would you want your Jewish or Muslim co-worker to support YOU if YOU lost a loved one?

4) Showing respect to another, WITHOUT compromising your own beliefs is an excellent way to share your own faith.

The list goes on.

This book does not suggest in any way that anyone compromise their own beliefs. It does not attempt to convert or sway anyone to a different way of thinking. What it DOES do, and does very well, is provide, to an increasingly discourteous society, the minimal rules of courtesy that persons today are no longer routinely taught.

Courtesy is the oil that lubricates all social interactions. This book helps provide this service.

I am purchasing this book after making use of it first as a library choice.It is a book I would suggest srongly to all age groups (8 to 80) for information which makes it possible to be respectful of relgious services other than the ones we ourselves know best and to do so in a relaxed and comfortable manner.
